Wyoming Water Watch

Support

Wyoming Water Watch tracks Wyoming's water story with real data on reservoirs, rivers, snowpack, drought, and groundwater, plus water news and history, explained in plain English, with sources you can check.

Where does the data come from?
Live public data from official government sources covering reservoir and river levels, mountain snowpack, statewide drought, drinking-water violation history, and active flood alerts. Each figure in the app is labeled by how solid it is: live, last known, or unavailable. News headlines come from public news search feeds; sentiment on each headline is scored entirely on the device, never sent anywhere.

Does this app require an internet connection?
Yes. Wyoming Water Watch fetches live readings from public government data services and public news feeds to stay current.

Does the app use my location?
Only for one purpose: if you open the app while an official flood alert is active, it can check whether that alert's warned area covers where you are, so that alert can be shown first. This check happens entirely on your device. Your location is never stored, never transmitted anywhere, and never used for anything else. You can decline the permission prompt and the app works the same, just without that one alert-ordering convenience.

Last updated: September 2026

Wyoming Water Watch does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. The app has no account system.

What data is stored: Any preferences (such as saved news stories or wells) are kept locally on your device. This data never leaves your device - it is not transmitted to us, to Apple, or to any third party.

What data we fetch: The app makes outbound requests to public government water-data services and public news search feeds to display current conditions and headlines. These are one-way reads of public data - no personal or device information is sent as part of these requests beyond what's inherent to any standard network request.

What data we collect: None. Wyoming Water Watch uses no analytics or advertising SDKs and has no account system. Your device's location, when you choose to share it, is used only on-device to order flood alerts and is never transmitted or stored.

Third parties: We do not share data with third parties because we do not collect any.

Children's privacy: Because no personal data is collected from any user, this app does not collect personal information from children.
